Clyfford Still temporarily closes, Colorado Symphony adds new Red Rocks shows and more arts news

Clyfford Still Briefly closes, bids farewell to director

Denver’s globally famous Clyfford Still Museum, that focuses on the works of the abstract expressionist, will temporarily shutter Aug. 24 through Sept. 17. That marks the conclusion of “The Early Years: Clyfford Still in Canada, 1920-33,” along with the Start of “The Late Works: Clyfford Still in Maryland. ”

The latter exhibition, which opens to the general public on Sept. 18, will consist of a free virtual lecture and reception for its opening that will stream live by the museum’so museums from 6 to 7:30 p.m. on Sept. 17, hosted by exhibit curator and museum director Dean Sobel. This will be Sobel’s “final public event and exhibit as founding director of the Clyfford Still Museum until he steps down to join the University of Denver,” according to a press announcement. Colorado arts nonprofits get extract

After wading through more than 200 programs, the Colorado Office of Economic Development and International Trade this month announced the grantees for an second round of financing from 2020. The grants are a part of the Arts in Society application and financed in part by the state’s Colorado Creative Industries Division.

Sharing at the cash are 32 statewide businesses, including Delta Montrose Youth Services Inc., Mancos Creative District, Pop Culture Classroom along with also Colorado Black Arts Movement.  The grantees will receive project financing between $7,500 and $25,000, also professional development training by means of a community training application, according to a press announcement. Symphony doubles down on shows

Observing the sold-out success of 15 of its socially distanced concerts in Red Rocks Amphitheatre — that marked the first public shows there of the summer 2020 year — Colorado Symphony this week declared five Acoustic about the Rocks performances of Vivaldi’so called The Four Seasons, Sept. 9-13.

Like shows at Red Rocks, the concerts will soon admit fewer than 200 people and need caps when entering and proceeding throughout the site. Colorado Symphony also announced that ticket purchases might twice as contact-tracing receipts from the event that an attendee contracts the novel coronavirus. A quartet of all Colorado Symphony cellists is also acting Aug. 27-29 in the Denver Performing Arts Complex. The outside shows feature tiny plates of food for purchase and a cash bar.
