One of the biggest comebacks this year — if you can even call it that — is Flume. He resurrected his sound Hi This Is Flume before this year, followed closely by an EP using Reo Cragun and a great new single, “Rushing Back,” together with Vera Blue. If anybody could manipulate sound design to that degree, it’d surely be Flume.

In addition, he discusses the newfound freedom his live show affords himmentioning that he’d grown tired of “just playing the same tunes, standing , exactly the same moments. ”

“I got sick of seeing electronic music artists just standing in 1 position the entire show twiddling knobs, pressing buttons. I kind of just thought, how about I just move and be entertaining and have some fun around there. I don’t even try and pretend I can play each and every part of each and every tune since these are so complicated parts of music and if I had been to fully play everything live, I’d want 30 or 40 people on stage. I was like allow ’s go the opposite path, and I’ll make a whole lot of unique versions of tunes and I’ll do a lot of stuff on stage and I think it’ll be more entertaining and it’s definitely planning to create a very different show. I think crowds aren’t even always anticipating it, and it’s totally different. Some folks enjoy it, some folks hate it. ”

In terms of his place in the world of EDM, Flume says he doesn’t mind being related to the moniker as far as he used to when it first started gaining popularity in common vernacular so several years ago.

“It had been mad. I didn’t even anticipate to go viral really. However, I awakened one morning to thousands of tweets and insanity. Initially, I was kinda worried about it because I don’t even know. […] But, I think that it was humorous. It’s certainly the press I’t. It’s nice, I don’t mind. I think that it ’s hilarious. ”
