An email struck our inboxes revealing what appears to be Movistar’s 2020 Canyon team bikes, which look much like last year … with one exception: there aren’t any Campagnolo components. Movistar and Campagnolo have raced together since the group ’s beginning, and by what we can remember, the relationship dates back even farther in the group ’s history, with the Reynolds and then Banesto racing days through the ’80s and also ’90s.

That relationship had looked from the stones lately with Campagnolo with not yet declared its sponsorship. And according to the photo falling to our inboxes, then endorsed by a closer look in Movistar’s own Instagram account, it sure seems that SRAM is defined to take over the Spanish group ’s sponsorship for both the guys ’s and women’therefore teams.

A good look at the photographs from the women team camp shows SRAM Red eTap in usage.

Together with the SRAM-sponsored Katusha-Alpecin team such a transfer makes plenty of sense for what’so the sole Canyon-sponsored team in the guys ’s WorldTour. In that sense the new 2020 bikes are very likely to efficiently be Movistar-coloured variations of that which Katusha-Alpecin raced in 2019 (albeit probably with unique saddles and tyres).

Source that is unknown.

SRAM are proponents of disc brakes, and both Katusha-Alpecin and Trek-Segafredo had made the move. Our money is on Movistar likewise racing with disc brakes in 2020.

It’therefore expected Movistar will continue to ride a Mixture of this Canyon Ultimate CF SLX and Aeroad CF SLX, fitted with SRAM Red AXS 12-speed wireless parts, Zipp wheels and Quarq powermeters.

We’ve reached out to representatives of SRAM and Canyon for comment but harbor ’t heard back. It & rsquo; therefore expected that the news will get official at the beginning of the 2020 season while this escape is probably true.
