Upon agreeing to some new one-year contract and returning into the Denver area Tuesday, Broncos cornerback Chris Harris wasted no time, heading to train safety Will Parks.

And, after formally registering the bargain Wednesday, which raised his 2019 wages to $12.05 million, Harris again wasted no time, beginning practice with all the first-team defense.

Dispute finished … for today.

Back together with all the Broncos … to get at least this year.

“It’s certainly a relief,” Harris explained after his first practice. “You wish to play football. That’s exactly what I do. To be out of it certainly murdered me, however, being back , getting my back, making certain my feet work great, and learning the shield … I feel very comfortable with everything they’re having us . ”

Harris had boycotted the voluntary offseason program due to the contract dispute. He wanted a contract extension worth $15 million per year and long enough in term that he would retire with the Broncos.

Broncos general manager John Elway had additional ideas, mostly a wait-and-see plan. Elway and Harris’ Circle agreed to some re-worked contract which raised his wages from $8.7 million to $12.05 million. Included was $650,000 for engaging in the final two weeks of the offseason program.

Harris got the raise he wanted and he will get his first — and probably only — shot free service next March when he chooses.

Can Harris win the standoff?

“It wasn’t about winning, but it was about getting back into the field and winning games,” he said. “I’m not worried about this dispute. Everything is previously. Now it’s just about winning football games. ”

The Harris-Broncos skirmish began April 23 if Harris left a pay-me-or-trade-me ultimatum even though Elway was consistent in saying any expansion talks could be following the draft.

“I believed I was likely to get traded at one time from the offseason,”” Harris explained. “It didn’t occur. I’m back. I’m prepared to roll. ”

And rolling using a new coach (Vic Fangio), new defensive coordinator (Ed Donatell) and fresh teammates (cornerback Bryce Callahan and security Kareem Jackson).

Back in the city a day, Harris can see the advantage of Callahan and Jackson. Locked in to covering the slot receiver this past year out of necessity, Harris can shadow a receiver throughout the field because Jackson and Callahan both have the chops to play inside.

&ldquoWe got men which are very flexible, which could play everywhere and which are smart,” Harris explained. “I wish to take the strain off them. If they need to put me on A.B. (Oakland’s Antonio Brown) in Week 1, I’m prepared for that. Whoever the top receiver isalso, I’m prepared for that. ”

Even though he wasn’t about for the workouts and classroom sessions, Harris was receiving reports from teammates like linebacker Von Miller about the beauty of Fangio’s defensive system.

“It’s going to be more confusing (for opponents),”” Harris explained. “We& & rsquo;re going to have the ability to disguise and make quarterbacks think rather than simply going out there and being like, ‘We understand you’re into man (policy ). ’ & & hellip; I think my (interceptions) will go way up because I’ll have a chance to browse the quarterback more. ”

More interceptions will mean more cash for Harris, be it using all the Broncos or even someplace.

“I’ve always said I wish to retire ,” he said. “I’m never done; I’m not near done. I’m definitely going to get my thing and in the close of the calendar year I’m certainly going to provide (the Broncos) a reasonable chance. ”

The Broncos have two OTAs and three minicamp practices before breaking for the summer. What is a neutral target for Harris?

“He’s just got to understand that our system,” Fangio explained. “We have to ease him back in to see which type of shape that he ’so in. He might have been working out hard wherever he was, but playing football is different. During Phase 1 and Phase 2, we slowly assemble these men up to have the ability to go out and do a clinic. He’s got to return in that shape. ”

Fangio said it was “great ” Harris can create a base during the following two weeks rather than starting from square one when training camp opens in mid-July.

“Two months is far better than one week; two weeks is far better than no weeks,” Fangio explained. “At least now he begins the practice of learning and becoming in football shape. The one thing that he ’ll get out of these two months is a barometer of what type of shape he’so in. Three months could ’t had been greater than two. Two is much better than one. We’ll take whatever we can get. ”

The Broncos’ defensive backs were pleased to get Harris back in the fold. Following Harris’ new arrangement was declared, Parks said security Justin Simmons put Harris back to their own group text message string.

“The energy from the building was certainly uplifted,” Parks explained. &ldquoWe got the entire team back today. We can finally head out there as a unit. It turned out to be a great Wednesday. ”
