Lunch Special: Dream ownership for Broncos? How does Peyton Manning and Brittany Bowlen sound?

Denver Post sports columnist Mark Kiszla answered questions Colorado sports at a live conversation Monday. Here are the highlights.

How much impact on the field would you think/expect the continuing Bronco ownership dispute can possess and has ever had?

Kiszla: Here’s my guess: The Bowlen kids will let Brittany conduct the group or take healthy buyouts. Or the staff is going to be sold. And I wouldn’t be surprised if it is sold. I guess Peyton Manning could be part of a group that buys the Broncos, though that’s exactly what he wishes to do with his lifestyle. ? I’d vote for a bunch of Brittany, Peyton and investors conducting the franchise. But that’s me … and not anything more than the usual at this time. The Bowlen family squabble alone won’t prevent the Broncos out of making the playoffs from 2020 … but if there’s uncertainty and acrimony in the ownership of any business, the business often endures. The Broncos aren’t any different. Would new ownership be worse or better compared to what Pat Bowlen brought to the table for a long time? This ’s the $3 billion query.

Hey Mark, been fantastic having you back. What do you think of what’s happening with MLB? The NBA and NHL have come to agreement with their players . Why do ’t MLB? Who would you blame? Owners? Players? Both?

Kiszla: Major-league baseball is a choice illustration of how tough times —  whether those hard times are brought on by the coronavirus, the protests ignited by the passing of George Floyd or even the deficiency of a regular paycheck — reveal the cracks in our country and our relationships. Baseball gamers and franchise owners overlook ’t trust each other. This is a marriage being tested since MLB has forces working against it that the NHL, NBA and NFL have largely avoided in the age of coronavirus. The NHL and NBA regular seasons were largely over, so players in those leagues cashed most of their paychecks. And now they need to crown winners. But MLB was stopped before the season started … and economic chaos resulted on the financial expectations of both players and team owners. Without trusting each other, can they get past the fiscal issues? I am hoping so. I think so. But I wouldn’t bet on it.

Why do you think the NFL community (looking at you Elway) have largely flip-flopped on the dilemma Colin Kaepernick was so outspoken on? Do you think we could see Kap back into the league now?

Kiszla: The NFL has flip-flopped on the dilemma of Colin Kaepernick since the league now recognizes it’d be bad for business to treat Kaepernick because a rogue player disrespectful of their U.S. flag rather than a guy who’s concerns about racial equality and police brutality are real. The NFL has quantified how the winds of change are still blowing off and determined there’s more money in the event the league currently stands alongside Kap. I wish I can donate commissioner Roger Goodell credit, but his track record tells me to stick to the money in whatever move he makes. Will Kaepernick play at the league ? I am hoping so. But he’s 32 years old and hasn’t played a down in three complete seasons. Michael Vick came back from exile and has been a NFL player in his second stint with the team, though far from the superstar Vick was at his prime. Kaepernick could help a team win. He could help the Broncos win. But would he really be interested in being a backup at this point? And to what extent has soccer lost its appeal given his experiences? People aren’t questions meant as criticism of Kap, but I think they’re untrue to inquire.

We ve noticed a great deal of allegations of racism pop up into school football programs around the country. This wouldn’t seem to be a issue using CU, which includes hired black head coaches in three of its four hires. Is there any chance this might wind up benefiting the app recruiting wise?

Kiszla: New CU soccer coach Karl Dorrell is a guy with his student-athletes’ interests at heart, from everything I know about his job. I feel any prep prospect may benefit from five or four years under the care and advice of Dorrell. It’s a thing Colorado can easily sell on the recruiting trail, particularly as there are always subtle techniques to recruit from the problems in other soccer programs. But what do adolescent players need most importantly, frequently that CU or Duke or even Northwestern could provide? Need and Gamers need to win a chance at playing in the NFL. Nothing sells like success in recruiting. Dorrell isn’t going to beat out Clemson or Oregon for a five-star recruit unless your Buffs win more football games more frequently.

Would the Nuggets have any possibility of bringing home a new name from Disney World? It might seem like they are hurt over other groups by not having to play games in elevation. Do you feel that matters?

Kiszla: OKI really like living at 5,280 feet above sea level. The elevation helps to provide Denver a number of the very best weather in the USA, if you ask me. But after 35-plus years of chronicling Denver sports, so I feel the elevation plays less a element in the achievement (Nuggets) or failure (Rockies) compared to several locals generally prefer to think. The NBA playoffs without a genuine advantage or enthusiasts will be a little strange, a bit too quiet for comfort and interesting to watch. I think elevation is your Nuggets’ ally on a Tuesday night in February, if the team has no time and may be on a road trip. Should you ’ re asking me, However, the influence of elevation on a basketball group will diminish throughout the playoffs. So … The Nuggets will win the NBA title this year. I think the odds I saw were 22-to-1. They are a very long shot, since this group probably doesn’t possess enough capacity to beat the Clippers, Bucks or even Lakers … and not enough talent to avoid elimination in the hands of their Jazz, the Mavs or even the Rockets.

All the major sports sounds to me, are intent on seeing deep in their fan base’s pocketbook they can obtain their handson. The conversation is on the separation, how much individuals can afford not is mentioned. With the meltdown won’t they have to recalculate the degree of exploitation?

The coronavirus and the riots have caused us all (or most people ) to re-examine items we took for granted (heath, concerts, BBQ parties( all ) and re-consider what’s quite important for us. I am blessed to cover baseball. I like seeing Nolan Arenado’s magical at third base and listening to director Bud Black chat ball. But how much would I actually miss MLB if it never came back? Well, let me put it this wayI wouldn’t miss baseball at Coors Field as much as concerts at Red Rocks or ski with friends. Plus it s not even close.

Any info on whether Nikola Jokic has remained in shape? I am aware I’ve added the “quarantine twenty” take or offer.

Jamal Murray told the Denver press through an presser on Friday that Nikola Jokic is currently in wonderful shape … and has developed a in which Joker’s used to be. That fits with everything I’ve been hearing for months. I know where Joker and his brothers were doing their basketball perform. And my spies inform me that Nikola looked trim and fit.

If Drew Lock doesn’t win seven games this season, are the Broncos back to drafting quarterbacks again? What s the pub for achievement to make him the starter for a long time to come?

As long as Drew Lock reveals expansion in 2020, he gets the chance to be a beginner again in 2021, irrespective of the number of games the Broncos win. Now  … should the staff move everybody and 4-12 from coach Vic Fangio to soccer ops chief John Elway get fired, then all bets are off.
