Star Wars: Episode IX — The Rise of Skywalker guarantees to shut the Skywalker Saga and response a lot of our lingering questions against the decades-long series when it reaches theaters on Dec. 20. Does Rey actually turn to the dark side?

It’s possible that Palpatine could tempt her with answers about her parentage or something terrible happens that compels her to adopt her emotions, a la Anakin Skywalker, and the power they deliver her. It’s uncertain where she might find this particular lightsaber, although the prequel Solo: A Star Wars Story failed show that Darth Maul lived being cut by Obi-Wan Kenobi in Phantom Menace and was running a crime syndicate prior to the events of A New Hope. He will still be alive — or at least his lightsaber could still be kicking across the universe.
Can there be anything romantic going on between Rey and Kylo Ren?
Rey and Kylo’s Force Skype calls have pretty hot and heavy — at least for a Disney movie — in The Last Jedi. Rey saw a surprisingly ripped Kylo with no shirt . Kylo killed Snoke to rescue Rey. Collectively, they battled a bunch of First Order soldiersand for a second it seemed as if Rey had persuaded Kylo to join the other side of the light. Kylo was interested in power compared to repenting for his sins (killing his father, Han Solo, key among them). But the chemistry between these two remains. It was so strong, in fact, that Luke appeared terrified of the two communicating at all.
There are a great deal of theories floating around the net about whether Kylo and Rey may have a romantic ago — or whether they may be associated, because the Star Wars films proved with Luke and Leia which they’re not frightened of incestuous flirting. What’s apparent is that these two are conflicting, equal forces who do bring some sort of balance to the Force. The series could end together reconciling and finding some new route forward for the galaxy or one killing another and thus perpetuating the continuous battle between light and dark.
Are there some sort of love quadrangle involving Rey, Kylo, Finn and Rose?

It does not seem as if the movie will pursue a complex love tangle involving those figures. YesFinn kept attempting to maintain Rey’s hands in The Force Awakens since they ran off from various explosions and Rey kept off him. The Finn-Rey love connection has always felt a. Reyin equity, has other things to be concerned about, like the destiny of the world wide web. Finn got another possible love interest in The Last Jedi if Rose risked her own life to rescue Finn and kissed him before passing out.
At the end of that movie, Rey sees Finn caring for Rose and provides an understanding smile. It appears that any possible sparks between Finn and Rey could be over. But there’s one interesting shot at the trailer for The Rise of the Skywalker that may suggest differently: Rey and Kylo are combating in a storm on the remains of the Death Star if Finn comes working towards Rey, shouting her name. He seems mad and worried. Can it be as Rey has strayed from their mission? Is the desire to fight Kylo stronger than the desire to secure her pals? Or is there anything else happening among these characters?
What was the point of Snoke?

Remember when Snoke premiered as a key villain in The Force Awakens and then Kylo Ren sliced him in half in The Last Jedi? This was surprising!
It’s still unclear whether Snoke had a part to play in the narrative other than to supply this shocking narrative conquer. A version of Palpatine (whether it be a resurrected emperor or some force ghost) appears to be taking Snoke’s place because the major bad of The Rise of Skywalker. It appears unlikely that this movie would waste time on diving into Snoke’s backstory or even acknowledging him at all when there are so many other questions to answer. Obi Wan kept the saber for many years before finally giving it to Luke Skywalker in A New Hope when Luke starts his Jedi training. Darth Vader strikes on the lightsaber out of Luke’s hands when son and dad struggle on the Death Star in Empire Strikes Back, and it falls away.
Eventually, Maz Kanata (given by Lupita Nyong’Decision ) gets her hands on it and keeps it in her collection. It’s never clear how she obtained it, although Mark Hamill has stated the first conceit for the opening scene of The Force Awakens was following Luke’s hand and lightsaber through space before it landed on Jakkuthe desert planet where Rey lives. That notion was, thankfully, scrapped.
Regardless of the way Maz obtained the weapon, we do know that the light saber calls to Rey at The Force Awakens, also Rey wields it during that movie. Rey offers it back to Luke at The Last Jedi, and it is rejected by him. She wields the weapon in that movie until it’s ripped apart during her struggle with Kylo Ren on the First Order’s boat. Luke’s hologram uses the weapon again when he creates a Force projection to divert Kylo that Leia and the rest of the rebels can escape the First Order. Rey requires the part of the lightsaber that is actual together with herto fix.
What’s with all the Knights of Ren?

Back in The Force Awakens, Rey includes a vision when she first touches Luke’s lightsaber. Part of that vision includes six cloaked figures standing from Kylo Ren in the rain. No, this is not the world’s worst album cover. We later find out in The Last Jedi which Luke Skywalker was coaching his nephew Ben Solo and several other young people to become Jedi when Luke began to fear Ben’s energy. He believed killing Ben in his sleeping but thought better of it. At that moment Ben brought the house down to either of them and awakened.
Luke tells Rey when he awoke, he realized that Ben had “disappeared with a handful of my pupils …and loathed the rest. ” Ben proceeded to eventually become Kylo Ren and the ones pupils became his disciples, the Knights of Ren.
The filmmakers have supported to Vanity Fair the Knights of Ren will return The Rise of Skywalker, probably as Kylo’s personal army. One of them has a gun for an arm. We know little about these pupils, the reason they accompany Kylo and exactly what their function will be in the movie.
Can clones come up?

You would be forgiven for not having revisited Attack of the Clones because it surfaced in 2002. But in that movie, we understand that a man named Jango Fett became the foundation for an whole clone army built from his DNA and modified to become nimble soldiers. We also understand that fan-favorite character Boba Fett is actually a clone of Jango Fett which is completely unaltered.
The idea of clones has not yet touched. But a good deal of fans have speculated an old character might have cloned him- or herself to create among the new characters at the franchise. At The Last Jedi, Rey entered a Force Cave and requested to see her parents. She only saw herself reflected backagain. Could this mean that she s clone? And could first Rey actually be Dark Rey from the trailer?
What the heck happened in this cave?

Talking of that cave, what the heck was that whole scene? We are aware that the cave is your counterpoint to the Jedi Temple in the staircase. The scene had many parallels to Luke entering the cave on Dagobah in Empire Strikes Back. On Dagobah, Yoda tells Luke the one thing which exists in the cave is whatever Luke takes him and he will confront exactly what he fears most. Luke faces a bogus Darth Vader and kills him, only to watch his own face under Vader’s helmet. Certainly he’s carrying a fear he will turn to the Dark Side (or even perceptions that Darth Vader is, indeed, a Skywalker).
Rey’s expedition into the Cave on Ahch-To similarly forces her to face her fear. Instead although she hopes to find out who her parents are at the cave is confronted with a mirror image of herself. Rey fears loneliness but also the idea that she does not have any family or lineage. Kylo tries to exploit this panic after as soon as they kill Snoke and his henchmen by telling Rey her parents were nobodies and she “has no place within this narrative. ” Rey, however, has heard from the Cave equally that she’s alone, but also that she is enough on her own.
When the Cave has a significance that is greater remains to be seen.
Where’s Lando been?
We get the very return of a recognizable face in the trailers for The Rise of Skywalker: Billy Dee Williams as Lando Calrissian. Even better, he’s reunited with his boat, the Millennium Falcon, which we discovered at Solo: A Star Wars Story also contains the memory of his beloved droid L3-37. But has Lando been during this trilogy? Last we saw himhe was allied with Han, Leia and Luke at the end of Return of the Jedi. Can he Han have a falling out? Is he gambling for boats?
Could a character from The Mandalorian show up?

Weeks before the release of The Rise of Skywalker, Disney dropped the Star Wars live-action chain, The Mandalorian, on its streaming services. Creator Jon Favreau has emphasized the narrative has nothing or little to do with all the Skywalker Saga: it centers on an undercover Mandalorian bounty hunter also can be placed after the fall of the Empire (i.e. following the events of Return of the Jedi) on the edge of the galaxy. But a spin at the end of the episode indicated the story could tie into the events of their movies.
The Mandalorian takes a job from Empire sympathizers to kill or capture a mysterious asset. But when the Mandalorian finally reaches his goal, he finds it’s baby alien of Yoda’s race. We know very little about Yoda’so race, however we do know that they tend to be Force sensitive. And in the installment, the baby shows it can use the Force .
We overlook ’t yet know the destiny of the kid, but there’s a very small chance they could show up in Rise of Skywalker as an adult.
Is Emperor Palpatine still alive, and if so, how?

The very first trailer for The Rise of Skywalker stopped with a surprise: The sound of Emperor Palpatine laughing maliciously. Last we saw Palpatine, Darth Vader had thrown him down the Death Star’s reactor core so as to rescue Luke. Technicallywe don’t see Palpatine die, and those who get thrown down bottoms at Star Wars have a surprisingly large survival rate (view: Darth Maul in Phantom Menace and Luke in Empire Strikes Back). But if Palpatine had lived, why would he wait so long to reappear?
In a different trailer for The Rise of Skywalker, we see Rey looking up. This is either an extremely old Palpatine, a resurrected Palpatine, a clone of Palpatine or a Force Ghost.
Who’s the titular Skywalker?

The title is perplexing Star Wars enthusiasts . There are two remaining, living Skywalkers: Leia and Kylo Ren. Is it possible that Leia “degrees up” somehow and therefore satisfies the promise of the movie’s title? Or Kylo Ren returns to the Light Side and also his Skywalker roots.

And if you look at the movie through just that simple perspective, you will not just know why each bad man loses and every single fantastic man loses, you’ll know who’will win and lose in another f–ing films. I can inform you, I simply don’t want to mess it. ”
This concept was echoed in The Last Jedi when Snoke stated that Rey’s abilities grew as an answer to Kylo turning to the dark side: “Darkness rises. And light, to match it. ”
What is the state of that balance led into The Rise of Skywalker? Luke perished in the film, but so did Snoke. Rey and Kylo are definitely counterparts. And there’s Leia, tipping the scales in favour of the Light. That is what contributes to the resurrection of Palpatine on the Dark Side.
If Rey is, indeed, tempted to the Dark Side, it might follow the Light Side will find some boost: Perhaps she and Kylo Ren swap sides. Or perhaps the two will learn to walk the line between the Dark Side and the Light, since the films have been hinting at balancing the Force. ”
Could The Rise of Skywalker “let the past die”?
The biggest criticism of J.J. Abrams’ final Star Wars film, The Force Awakens, was that the plot followed the narrative of A New Hope too tightly. In equity, the very first entry in each Star Wars trilogy (Phantom Menace, A New Hope and Force Awakens) has begun using a force-sensitive kid yearning to depart their dusty planet behind and become the hero they have been always meant to be.

The Jedi Council creates a string of decisions in these films that result in the growth of the Empire. Why is it that we want these folks in a position of power again?)
Meanwhile, Kylo implores Rey to “let the past dieto kill it if you have to,” so they can produce something which balances the drive. Included in that speech, Kylo shows that Rey’s parents were (allegedly ) nobodies, essentially severing a essential connection that lots of fans believed connected the first trilogy and this particular one. Rey, of course, cannot agree to Kylo’s plan. But it’s difficult to dismiss the meta-context: The first trio — Luke, Leia and Han –‘ve gradually ceded the franchise to another generation, together with Han expiring in the very first movie, Luke expiring in the last movie and Leia mentoring Poe to take over for her some day. Perhaps the movie will fully match the actors.
