IHOP National Pancake Day

Famished diners will flip for these free flapjacks. In celebration of National Pancake Day, IHOP is serving up a free short stack of buttermilk pancakes on March 1 from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. for a good cause. In return for the complimentary cakes, customers are asked to consider leaving a donation to support kids in the community through Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals, Leukemia & Lymphoma Society and Shriners Children. Even just a buck or two helps and won’t bust your budget. (The offer is valid for dine-in only.) If you don’t make it to IHOP on National Pancake Day, the diner continues to offer all-you-can-eat pancakes for just $5.99. (That offer is not valid on March 1.) ihop.com/en/national-pancake-day

AMC Theatres’ $5 Fan Faves

The nation’s largest movie theater chain, AMC, is making it cheaper for movie lovers to get back to the theater with its Fan Faves series. Tickets start at just $5 (one of the cheapest tickets that the movie chain offers). The Fan Faves line-up changes regularly, but usually includes pop culture classics, family favorite flicks or recent hits brought back to the big screen for a limited engagement. Showtimes vary by date. (The current line-up includes “American Underdog,” “Dune,” “Encanto” and “King Richard.”) It’s one of the most economical ways to go to the movies with friends and family. amctheatres.com/fan-faves

Frozen Dead Guys Days

Some urban legends are ultra-cool and actually true. There’s a real “frozen dead guy” in Nederland and the town happily celebrates him every year. Long-deceased Bredo Morstal’s body was preserved in dry ice in a Tuff Shed by his (also dearly-departed) grandson Trygve Bauge. The bizarre tale inspired the little town to create a fitting celebration, Frozen Dead Guy Days. This year, the event takes place March 18-20. There are lots of cool activities, including coffin racing, costumed polar plunging, icy turkey bowling and more. Entry fees range from $5 to $75. However, for many, the real fun is in just watching the chaos for free as a spectator. And that’s just the tip of the iceberg for the three-day fest because there’s so much more to chill out and enjoy, including live music (in heated tents!) with a $25 ticket. frozendeadguydays.com

You can pair the bargain beverage with one of the chain’s seasonal food items: Roasted Tomato & Hummus Toast, Roasted Tomato & Avocado Toast or Chocolate Croissant.
