12:06 p.m. The clamps came down in the second quarter, as Mullen’s long, athletic and disciplined defense held the Wizards scoreless for nearly five-and-a-half minutes. Schwertner fueled the offense on the other end, with the 6-foot-3 sophomore guard knocking down a 3 from the corner as part of a 12-0 run. A brief spurt from the Wizards near the end of the half drew the score to 22-12, but Schwertner sank a pair of free throws with 4.5 seconds left to stake Mullen to a 24-12 halftime lead. — Matt Schubert
